Meet & Greet

Gannon CodeX Fall 2025 Kickoff: Build, Compete, and Collaborate!
The wait is over! Gannon CodeX is officially kicking off the Fall 2025 semester with our much-anticipated Meet & Greet, and you are invited to be at the center of the action. This isn't just a meeting; it's the launchpad for a semester filled with innovation, collaboration, and real-world project building.
Join us to connect with the brightest minds in tech at Gannon, form powerful teams, and find out how you can be a part of the projects, workshops, and competitions that will define your year. Oh, and to make sure we kick things off right, there will be plenty of free pizza and soda for everyone!
Why You Should Be There
This first gathering is your gateway to everything Gannon CodeX has to offer. It's your chance to:
- CONNECT: Network with a diverse group of students and faculty from Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, and beyond. Find mentors, collaborators, and friends who share your passion.
- CREATE: Learn how CodeX provides the structure and support to take your app ideas from a sketch on a napkin to a fully deployed project. This is where your portfolio begins.
- COMPETE: Get the inside scoop on our plans to form teams and travel to regional hackathons! This is your opportunity to represent Gannon, test your skills against other universities, and win amazing prizes.
- LAUNCH: Start the semester with momentum. Whether you're looking to join a project, lead a team, or simply learn a new skill, this event is your first step.
A Glimpse into Our Semester: More Than Just Meetings
At Gannon CodeX, we believe in learning by doing. The Meet & Greet is just the beginning. Here’s a preview of the recurring events and major plans we'll be unveiling:
Project Development & Collaboration
At our core, we are builders. Throughout the semester, we will facilitate member-led projects. We provide the framework for teams to collaborate effectively using tools like Git, GitHub, and Discord, with mentorship available from upperclassmen and faculty.
Competitive Spirit: Hackathons & Competitions
Ready to test your skills under pressure? We are actively planning to assemble teams to compete in regional and virtual hackathons this year. These high-energy events are a fantastic way to learn rapidly, build something impressive in a weekend, and network with industry sponsors. We'll be discussing potential events and how to join our competitive teams.
"Cookies & Code": Our Weekly Grind
Join us for our signature weekly event: Cookies & Code! This is our relaxed, collaborative co-working session. It’s a dedicated time and space to work on club projects, tackle challenging homework assignments, or learn a new technology alongside your peers. With cookies and a supportive environment, it's the perfect blend of productivity and community.
Skill-Building Workshops
We will host a series of hands-on workshops designed to teach you in-demand, practical skills that go beyond the classroom curriculum. Tentative topics include:
- Full-Stack Web Development (React, Node.js)
- Mobile App Development (Flutter, Swift)
- Introduction to Cloud Services (AWS/Azure)
- Mastering Git & GitHub for Collaboration
Your Ideas, Our Next Big Project
Have an idea for an app that could improve campus life? A web tool you've always wanted to build? A data science project you're passionate about? We want to hear it!
Gannon CodeX is a member-driven organization. We believe the best ideas come from our community. At the Meet & Greet, and throughout the semester, we invite you to pitch your ideas. We provide a platform for you to find a team, get feedback, and access the resources to turn that concept into a reality. All are welcome to submit a project idea for the club to work on.
